Bamboo Passage Painting

Original oil painting is currently on loan to U. S. Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg, for the purpose of the Art in Embassies exhibition located at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.

Towering green bamboo stalks rise up to 100 feet overhead, creating a dense canopy that partially blocks out the sunlight in the bamboo forests growing on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii.

The original 36" x 36" x 1.5" oil painting entitled Bamboo Passage by abstract artist Danielle Nelisse was inspired by the movement of the swaying bamboo forests. Long wooden boardwalks guide visitors through the thick bamboo groves as the ocean breeze sweeps through the hollow stalks, which sway and gently knock against each other creating a natural, musical, rustling sound.
